Being that it is summer time and the kids are out from school, things can get boring and such. Heck, I often find myself bored and thinking about how fun it would be to go play "Tiddle-y-Winks (sp?)" with man-hole covers. Doing the same thing day in and day out has become a bore. Kids are the same way! They get bored too easily. So, I changed a bit of that this morning. Instead of my usual routine of making coffee and breakfast or just making coffee; I decided to let my daughter help. She helped empty the coffee basket, rinse it and refill it while I only poured the water into the back. Then, as a treat for all, I let her make corn muffins. Now, keep in mind, she is still learning and struggling with fractions so we did the boxed kind. I let her measure the milk, crack open the egg, add all ingredients into the bowl and I let her stir it all up. I basically let her handle everything except for the putting it in the oven.
Let me tell you, the look of joy and excitement on her face is priceless. And, what she said next melted my heart and instantly put me in a great mood:
"Mom, you're the best. You teach me how to cook and I feel like I'm a teenager, but I'm still small and that's ok. Oh, and I love you!" Even though she has her moments and some are worse than others due to her emotional disorders and such, this, was a shining moment for us; especially for myself being her mother. And, the look of accomplishment and pride at how well they came out.......PRICELESS!
